Lactarius intermedius
Berk. & Broome

SEM photos

Lactarius intermedius is strictly associated with Abies alba; it is at first glance very similar to L. scrobiculatus.

It may be separated from L. scrobiculatus because of the paler, more uniformly coloured cap, and of the pinkish hue of the gills.

The stipe is heavily pitted, and it is usually yellow at the apex.
